Financial Aid and Four Years of Brotherhood

Brett Gallagher ’23, recipient of the Richard M. Nichols 1926 and Ruth K. Nichols Scholarship Fund, reflects on his time at Dartmouth.

Brett Gallagher ’23

My Dartmouth experience has been the most impactful, formative, and enjoyable time of my life. I loved Dartmouth from the moment I stepped on campus and am so grateful to have been able to attain my dream of being here.”

Brett Gallagher ’23 has experienced much in his time on campus: he’s made the best friendships of his life, pursued his dream degree of economics with a minor in African and African American studies, sought new passions in exploring rural New Hampshire, and made a name for himself on the varsity men’s lacrosse team.

Brett’s favorite place on campus is the center of the Green. He loves to spend time there during the day watching his peers pass by and greeting his friends as they make their way to classes and the library. During his free time, Brett loves to hike local trails, freestyle and backcountry snowboard, and play his ukulele all over campus.

Though he finds it difficult to put into words, Dartmouth holds a very special place in his heart. Not only has he been able to work toward a career in finance in Manhattan, but his time in Hanover has been especially unique. “I would like to thank you for allowing me the privilege of attending college with my twin brother,” he writes. “We’ve been lucky to live together all four years of our college experience, and we’ve made some amazing memories together. This would not have been possible without your aid.”

After graduating from Dartmouth, Brett will be pursuing investment banking at a firm in Manhattan, and he hopes to one day start a small investment firm with his brother, Brendon Gallagher ’23.
