Rockefeller Center First Year Fellows Program

Developing leadership skills in the public policy context

The First-Year Fellows Program provides a unique opportunity for up to 25 first-year students to engage meaningfully in public policy early in their Dartmouth career. The program pairs students with Dartmouth alumni mentors in Washington, D.C., to serve in policy position fellowships. Students participate in a life-changing experiential learning opportunities in out-of-classroom settings. Prior to their placement, Fellows take two academic courses (one in public policy and one in statistical methods), participate in on-campus leadership training, and complete the intensive Civic Skills Training program. During their placement, they also work on a structured project.
