As part of our commitment to provide the best liberal arts education in the world, Dartmouth is undertaking an $89 million, 66,000-square-foot renovation and expansion of the Hopkins Center for the Arts (the Hop) with renowned design firm, Snøhetta.
The Hop’s expansion and redesign will support more ambitious creation of cross-disciplinary work, strengthen Dartmouth’s ability to attract world-class faculty and students passionate about the arts, and act as a nexus for community-building and creative experiences for all. Construction is scheduled to commence in early 2023, and the Hop will reopen—transformed—in winter 2025.
“The revitalized Hop will advance our mission and enhance opportunities for artistic exploration and growth, inspiring students, faculty, staff, and alumni, and welcoming visitors from across New England and beyond.” – President Philip J. Hanlon ’77
Recognizing the Upper Valley community’s great affection and support for the Hop, community members who enjoy the Hop are encouraged to participate in the expansion and renovation initiative. All gifts from donors with an address in New Hampshire or Vermont will be counted toward the Hop Community Campaign, a dedicated local effort to raise $5M towards the overall goal of $89M.
